Video: Phil Ade - Toast to Life

I came across this artist on DC’s WKYS-FM online stream.

Phil Ade (pronounced phil-eye-day) is an artist from the DMV area. That’s a nice concept: a nationally syndicated radio station that occasionally plays local artists. Some other cities need to take notes.

Besides that tangent, enjoy the music.

Twinkie diet helps nutrition professor lose 27 pounds

(CNN) -- Twinkies. Nutty bars. Powdered donuts.

For 10 weeks, Mark Haub, a professor of human nutrition at Kansas State University, ate one of these sugary cakelets every three hours, instead of meals. To add variety in his steady stream of Hostess and Little Debbie snacks, Haub munched on Doritos chips, sugary cereals and Oreos, too.

His premise: That in weight loss, pure calorie counting is what matters most -- not the nutritional value of the food.

The premise held up: On his "convenience store diet," he shed 27 pounds in two months.

This song was stuck in my head this morning.

The Pleasure Principle by Janet Jackson:

Growing up, I thought the chair stunt she did around the 2:10 mark was the coolest thing ever. :)

Quote of the Day

When somebody says you've changed, it's only because you stopped living your life their way.

Music Monday: Closer.

I enjoy both versions of this song. Goapele created the original version, but I heard Drake's mixtape version first. *shrug*

Quote of the Day: Opportunity

When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us.
